This picture hurts.
I found this picture awhile back when I was thinking of changing my blog. It hurt. And I saved the picture. Today, when I saw it again, it hurt. "if anyone gives even a cup of cold water..." such a small token of help when in reality, us in the Western world have the means to give so much more.
"Even a cup of cold water" this haunts me. It's so easy here in our kitchen to go and turn the tap on, with cold flowing water never stopping. And our cups run over with this water. But I'm not grateful. I take this for granted. In my home, I'm blessed. I have a crazy love family, and everything I could ever want. How often do I forget to praise Him for all this, all these blessings? My cup runs over in abundance, and yet I'm not filled.
"Even a cup of cold water" offered in Jesus name and it's life. The woman at the well got it. The thousands of persecuted Christians witnessing their faith, they get it. They take this life giving water and they drink from the well of Salvation and are never empty. Always full.
And always giving.
We all were given Life, drawn from the deepest well of Love, and the few that have radical love for Jesus offer it back, back to the least of these, inasmuch so they did it for Him. They keep offering a simple cup of cold water, with a greater offering of Living Water.
Isaiah 12:3 says "With joy you will draw water from the wells of Salvation." Because Christ Jesus is a deep well from which we draw, from a "spring of water welling up into eternal life." A deep, deep well who's waters satisfy even the most parched and dry. Who's deep, deep love is never empty.
Thank you Jesus for your well of love that we may draw salvation and so much more from. May our lives reflect yours. Full, deep, never ending, always ready to give a bit of our joy stored of inside us, that others parched and dry may receive this amazing living water. Amen
